New Providence Landmarks
New Providence landmarks include municipal facilities, businesses, gas stations eateries, dining, banks, gas stations, schools, preschools & churches.
After seeing how we’d used GoogleMap layers for Safe Routes to School, our Borough Administrator, Doug Marvin, wanted to do something similar for the borough. He arranged for a High School Senior, Jimmy Evangelisto, to create it as an internship for the borough in Spring of 2016.
Between Jimmy and I, we’ve made over a thousand (1,000) edits to New Providence in Google maps. Jimmy painstakingly added missing municipal facilities, moved all of the businesses to the proper buildings, added missing businesses and painstakingly added all of the missing sidewalks in town to BOTH the underlying Google Maps and a sidewalk layer for the overlay maps. Google’s crowd sourcing model usually requires at least one other user to review those edits before they are published, especially for their first 100 MapMaker edits. As a result it really helps to have several users working together, especially if one is a Regional Lead, as I am for the US.
If you are a business owner and would like to be added the please go to Google My Business, create and verify your business listing for free. Then comment below or email SRTS@CecileSeth.com and I’ll add you.
Please use the comments to thank our Borough Administrator, Doug Marvin, & our Senior intern for bringing the New Providence Landmarks map to fruition! Suggestions welcome!
